Vivian & Hoong | Fermenting Cellar Wedding

Confession – I have a habit of falling in love with couples I work with and these two were no exception.

Vivian and Hoong are a power duo in their own right. Not only are they two of the most charismatic, quick-witted, hilarious human beings I’ve ever met, their kind, sweet nature and ability to light up a room was a beautiful thing to witness.

This incredibly gorgeous, warm, rustic affair is one that I will forever hold close to my heart.

Here are some highlights of their tear-inducing love filled day captured by LG Weddings.

One of our sweetest reviews from July 2014 bride, Andrea:

“It takes a special kind of person to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to making your most special day perfect. Iris is so passionate about wedding planning that it shines through everything she does.  We had a million moving parts to our wedding and she made sure it went off seamlessly. She is professional, extremely detailed oriented and pleasant to work with.  Our other vendors loved her and several of our guests were singing her praises as well. One meeting with her and you’ll see exactly what I mean!”

Featured: WedLuxe | Frozen in Love

Last week, something amazing happened. Blue Lavender Events was featured on Wedluxe.com with a Frozen inspired wedding! Excited doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt. This was truly a dream come true and a tremendous honour, especially since I’ve been a fan of WedLuxe for as long as I can remember.

The inspiration behind the shoot was the iconic “Let It Go” scene where Elsa unleashes her powers to create a breathtaking ice palace as her outfit transformed into a sparkly beaded blue gown. This is what inspired the pure whites, powder blues, crystal and glittery silver accents throughout the shoot. The blush pink tones came in as a nod to the story that only an act of true love could end the eternal winter and bring back summer.  The crystal and acrylic details were inspired by the ice castle and we even included an ice sculpture influenced by the fountain in her palace.

Putting this shoot together was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had, especially getting to work with some of the industry’s most talented and creative professionals. To see a full list of the amazing team behind this shoot, please visit the end of this post.

Now, get ready for an insane amount of gorgeous from this dreamy shoot photographed by my lovely and talented friend Therese from ARTIESE Studios.

DIY Edge Painted Business Cards

I’ve always been and always will be a huge believer that the smallest details often make the biggest difference. That’s why I recently decided to give edge painting my business cards a try. I wanted to make sure that these cards were a reflection of myself, my brand, and my crazy love for details.

When I first decided to beautify my business cards, I thought I would try spray paint.  Up until then, I thought that it was capable of making anything look good – boy was I wrong. So I gave acrylic paint a try and success!

To all my lovely craftinista’s out there, here is my step-by-step guide on how to make your own edge-painted business cards. I hope you’re as delighted as I was with the results. Happy Crafting!

What you’ll need:
  • Luxe Business Cards in White from Moo.com
  • Martha Stewart Acrylic Craft Paint {Colours depending on your preference}
  • Small acrylic paint brush
  • Elastic band
  • Bulldog clip

Step 1:

This is the MOST important step! Take a stack of business cards, tie an elastic (or two!) around tightly to secure them.  Add the bulldog clip to a side that’s covered by the elastic and clamp them down further to make them as even with each other as possible (horizontally and vertically).  The goal here is to eliminate any spaces or gaps which would result in the paint bleeding through – not fun!  Note that the top and bottom card that you use will be ruined.  I kept the top and bottom card from the first round and continued to use them for the rest of my batches to keep ruined cards to a minimum.

Step 2:

Squeeze the paint onto a piece of paper and dip your brush into the paint.  Start with painting the opposite edges not covered by the elastic in one even coat (it may also help to squeeze the cards together as you paint)!  Lay flat to dry.

Step 3:

Carefully remove the elastic. Holding the stack with your fingers, paint the opposite edges (you won’t have to use the elastic again, the paint will hold the cards together). Lay flat to dry.  Once the paint has dried, add a second coat (not necessary, but if required for better saturation & coverage).  Lay flat to dry.

Step 4:

Once the paint is completely dry, hold the stack lengthwise in one hand and gently bend it slightly to loosen and separate the cards.

Voila!! Your very own edge-painted cards.  I would love to hear from you if you’ve ever done edge painting yourself. Comment below if you have any neat tips or tricks to share or if you tried this method yourself and love it as much as I do!

A Sweet & Simple DIY Valentine

Ever since I can remember, Valentine’s Day has been one of my favourite holidays. In elementary school, I was the girl who handed out those fun little Disney cards to each of my classmates. I also had an excuse to eat more candy and chocolates than usual which made this holiday pretty synonymous with halloween in my opinion.

Maybe it’s the hopeless romantic in me, but the biggest reason why I still love this day is because above everything else, it’s a celebration of love – not just for couples but for all the important people in your life.

In case you haven’t figured out what to get your loved ones yet, don’t worry. I have you covered. Here is a simple and sweet DIY gift idea that will be perfect for your significant other, bestie, and everyone in between.

Special thanks to Therese from ARTIESE Studios for getting crafty with me and Lisa from Ink and Paper for this lovely letterpress, gold foil print!

LOVE IN A CUP

A hot beverage to warm you on cold days and nights. A fix to satisfy those chocolate cravings. Or a dessert to cap off a romantic dinner for two.

What You’ll Need:

Step 1

Start with one clear cone shaped bag and place the funnel inside of it. The funnel will keep the bag clean from excess powder.

Step 2

Fill the funnel with 4 tablespoons of Instant Hot chocolate Mix.

Step 3

Remove the funnel and add ¼ cup of White Chocolate Chips followed by ¼ cup of Dark Chocolate Chips and top it off with ¼ cup of Toffee bits (the cone will look similar to a Drumstick ice cream cone!)

Step 4

Twist the bag tight at the top of the mixture and secure it with a gold ribbon tied into a bow. Trim the excess material at the top of the bag.

Step 5

Slide the filled cone inside the polka dot cone shaped bag. Add 2 heart shaped marshmallows into the bag. Twist the top of the polka dot bag tight and secure it with a gold ribbon tied into a bow. Trim the excess material off the top and Voila!
